Car Rental Tips:
Welcome to the exresscarentals car rental advice section of our site. On this page we compiled a small list of tips that we hope some of our users may feel useful when looking for car rental.
This a general list of car rental tips only and we will endeavour to add any more useful rental tips here if and when they become available.
- Always try to remember to book your vehicle rental well in advance of your departure date. This can be especially good if you are planning to depart in a holiday season, or if your destination or pick up location is within a highly desired location.
- Always try to familiarise yourself with your rental vehicle, especially if the vehicle you are renting is one that you have never driven before, or has a different drivers side location to the one that you are normaly accustomed to. Try to familiarise yourself with the vehicle's instruments and fuel type as these will be handy to know before you leave your vehicle collection point!
- Always check to see if there is any additional charge for leaving your rental vehicle at a different drop off location to the one where you collected your vehicle from, Especially if you are travelling cross-border or to different countries, This is often known as a one-way rental.
- Remember to bring your drivers licence, rental voucher, credit card and any other forms of ID with you on collection of your rental vehicle. This helps to confirm your identity.
- As the majority of accidents happen on the first day of a rental, greater concentration is needed when you first start out upon collection of your rental vehicle. Driving on different sides of the road, different driving conditions, and driving laws than you might be used to can be common, especially if you are renting in a different country. Also try to get an emergency telephone contact number from your rental agent at your collection point.
- Please remember that if you want to have a second named driver, that they will need to show their drivers licence themselves at the rental agency collection point. There is usually a charge for a second named driver.
- Remember to book your infant or child seat well in advance, Most rental agencies have a limited supply. Also check for any additional charges.
- Always check the rental agencies fuel policy BEFORE starting off on your rental. Check to see if the rental needs to be returned full of fuel or not, as failure to check this can result in extra charge on your final bill.
- Make sure the rental agency has provided you with a road map of the area, and try to plan your journey before you leave.
- Always make sure you inspect your rental vehicle before you drive away and make sure that any dents, marks, etc are stated clearly on your contract. And make sure before you drive away that you are happy with the condition of your rental vehicle.
